Who We Are

Sandton Locksmith is a locally owned and operated locksmith company that has served the greater Johannesburg north region since 2010. What began as a single technician responding to late-night lockouts around Sandton has grown into a trusted team of licensed professionals covering five major hubs and more than thirty surrounding suburbs.

The company started with a simple idea: that a lockout, a broken key or a failed lock should never leave a family or a business stranded for hours. In the early years our founder built a reputation across Bryanston, Morningside and Rivonia for arriving fast, working cleanly and quoting honestly. Word spread, demand grew, and we expanded our mobile fleet so that no matter where you are in the north, a fully equipped van is never far away.

Today we are built on the same promise we started with โ€” when you are locked out, need a lock replaced, or want to upgrade your property's security, we arrive fast, work professionally and charge fairly. Whether you need an emergency locksmith at 2 a.m., a planned lock change for a new home, or a commercial locksmith to install access control at your office, Sandton Locksmith is the name locals trust.

Our Experience

With more than fourteen years of hands-on locksmith experience, our team has encountered and resolved virtually every lock and security challenge imaginable. From a jammed front-door deadbolt in Bryanston to a transponder key failure at Fourways Mall, we have seen it, solved it, and refined our methods over thousands of completed jobs.

Every technician on our team is a seasoned professional who undergoes regular training to stay current with evolving lock technology. That means we work confidently with traditional pin-tumbler cylinders, modern anti-snap and high-security locks, electronic access control, smart locks, and the latest automotive transponder and remote systems. Continuous training is not optional for us โ€” it is the reason we can resolve the overwhelming majority of callouts in a single visit.

Our expertise spans the full spectrum of locksmith work. For homes, our residential locksmith specialists handle lock installations, gate and sliding-door locks, security upgrades and full property rekeying after a move. For businesses, our commercial team delivers master key systems, restricted key profiles, panic-bar installation and electronic access control. For vehicles, our automotive locksmith technicians handle lockouts, key replacement, transponder programming and ignition repairs for all major brands.

Why Customers Choose Us

Choosing a locksmith means trusting someone with the security of your home, business or vehicle. Thousands of customers across Johannesburg's northern suburbs have made Sandton Locksmith their first call, and they keep coming back for a few simple reasons.

Speed matters most in an emergency, which is why our strategically positioned mobile units reach most locations within 20 to 30 minutes. Our dispatch process is built for urgency โ€” when you call, we confirm your exact location and send the nearest available technician immediately, then give you a firm arrival estimate so you are never left guessing.

Customers also choose us because of how we work once we arrive. We use precision, non-destructive entry techniques wherever possible, protecting your door, frame and paintwork. We provide an upfront quote before any work begins, so there are no hidden fees or call-out surprises. And because our vans are fully stocked with cylinders, deadbolts, key blanks and programming equipment, most jobs are completed on the spot rather than requiring a costly second visit.

Compared with competitors, our advantage is depth and consistency: one company that handles emergency, residential, commercial and automotive locksmith work to the same high standard, available 24/7, across Sandton, Fourways, Midrand, Randburg and Centurion.

Our Mission

Our mission is straightforward: to provide dependable, professional locksmith services that help people regain access and security as quickly as possible. Whether it is a stressful midnight lockout or a planned security upgrade for a growing business, every customer deserves the same level of care, speed and transparency.

We believe great locksmith work is not just about opening doors โ€” it is about giving people peace of mind. That is why we invest in continuous training, carry the best tools in every vehicle, and never cut corners on quality. From a simple lock repair to a complex master-key system, every job receives our full attention and expertise. Sandton Locksmith is more than a service provider; we are your local security partner, committed to keeping the homes, businesses and vehicles of Johannesburg's northern suburbs safe and accessible around the clock.

Why the Work Is Mobile

Everything here happens at the property or at the vehicle. There is no shop to visit, and that is a deliberate shape rather than a limitation.

The reason is that almost nothing about a lock can be diagnosed away from the door it is fitted to. Whether a key fights only when the door is closed, whether a hinge has dropped, whether a strike plate has moved, whether a gate lock has seized because of weather or because it was the wrong specification for an outdoor position โ€” none of that is visible from a description, and all of it is visible in the first minute on site.

It also means the diagnosis and the work happen in the same visit. A technician who has established that a door is misaligned can correct it there and then rather than quoting for a cylinder that was never the problem.

The limits of that are worth stating too. Anything requiring a vehicle to be lifted, dismantled or taken into a workshop is outside mobile scope, as is a small number of recent vehicles where the manufacturer restricts key data tightly. Being told that on the phone is more useful than being charged for a visit that establishes it.

How a Callout Is Actually Priced

The part of this trade that generates the most suspicion is pricing, so it is worth setting out plainly how it works rather than leaving it to be discovered.

You should get a firm call-out figure on the phone, before anybody moves โ€” for that hour, to that area. That figure should be the figure on arrival. If somebody will not commit to it on a call, that is the point to end the conversation rather than the point to hope for the best.

Anything conditional on what the door turns out to be is not quotable until somebody has seen it. A lockout on a standard door is predictable. The same call where the door turns out to have a security gate over it, or an electronic lock, or a mechanism that has failed rather than simply being locked, is not the same job โ€” and a firm quote given before that is known is either padded to cover the worst case or about to be revised.

The honest version is a firm call-out plus a clear price for the likely work, with anything beyond it quoted on site before it starts rather than after it finishes. The test of an operator is not that everything is quoted upfront; it is that nothing is ever done without the price for it being agreed first.

Want a figure before anybody moves?

Call and describe the situation. You get the call-out figure for that hour and area on the phone, and it is the figure on arrival.

Why We Ask Who You Are

Every attendance includes a check that the person asking for a door to be opened is entitled to have it opened, and it is worth explaining rather than leaving it to feel like an obstacle.

Nothing formal is being asked for. In the overwhelming majority of cases it is satisfied easily โ€” something with the address on it, a neighbour who knows you, a landlord or managing agent reachable by phone, a delivery in your name, or simply the house matching everything you have described about it. On a vehicle it is the registration and something connecting you to it.

Where it genuinely cannot be satisfied, the work does not proceed. That will occasionally be frustrating for somebody entirely legitimate who has nothing on them, and it is still the only version of this trade worth running. A business that will open any door for whoever is standing at it is not one anybody wants operating in their suburb.

There is a related refusal worth stating in the same breath. A lock change intended to exclude somebody who is lawfully in occupation is a legal matter between the parties rather than a job, and it gets declined rather than quoted. Restoring access to somebody locked out of their own home is a completely different thing, and it is exactly what an emergency callout is for.

What We Do Not Do

Being clear about the edges is more useful than a list of everything covered, because the wrong callout wastes the hour that mattered.

Alarm systems are not locksmith work. A panel that will not disarm, a sensor triggering repeatedly or a zone that will not clear belongs with the alarm company, and you will be told that rather than charged to establish it.

Gate motors are automation. If the motor runs and the gate does not move, or nothing happens with power present, that is a gate company's work. What is locksmith work is the lock on the gate, the pedestrian gate beside it, and the manual override that lets you operate the gate by hand โ€” which is the part that matters during an outage and the part nobody can ever find the key for.

Replacing glass is somebody else's trade, even where the opening can be closed up for the night. Access control credentials โ€” tags, fobs, intercoms, booms โ€” are administered by whoever runs that system; the mechanical door behind it is locksmith work and the credential is not. And key cutting is not part of what we do at all.

Some vehicle work also sits outside mobile scope: anything requiring a car to be lifted, dismantled or taken into a workshop, and a small number of recent vehicles where the manufacturer restricts key data tightly. The registration settles which group a vehicle is in before anybody travels โ€” see the automotive locksmith page.

How the Queue Works When More Than One Job Is Waiting

At busy hours more than one job is waiting, and they are not worked through in the order they arrived. It is worth saying how it is decided.

A person or animal shut inside a vehicle or a room comes first, and where there is any immediate risk the correct first call is emergency services rather than a locksmith โ€” they can prioritise it in a way a trade cannot.

Next are properties that cannot be closed up at all โ€” a door that has been forced, a shop entrance that will not lock, a home nobody can shut for the night. Then fixed deadlines set by somebody other than the caller โ€” a business that has to open at five, a clinic with a waiting room filling up.

Then ordinary lockouts, and then scheduled work. The practical implication is simply that it is worth describing your situation accurately rather than describing everything as maximally urgent, because if every call is an emergency then the person who genuinely cannot secure their premises queues behind somebody who can. See emergency locksmith for what counts.

About Sandton Locksmith โ€” FAQs

How quickly can a locksmith arrive?+

Our strategically positioned mobile units reach most locations across Sandton, Fourways, Midrand, Randburg and Centurion within 20 to 30 minutes. When you call, we confirm your exact address, dispatch the nearest available technician immediately, and give you a firm arrival estimate so you are never left guessing during an emergency.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency locksmith services?+

Yes. Our emergency locksmith team operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays. Lockouts and lock failures rarely happen at a convenient time, so a qualified technician is always on call to respond to urgent situations, day or night, at no premium after-hours surcharge.

Are your locksmiths licensed and insured?+

Every locksmith on our team is fully licensed, insured and professionally trained. We carry the correct credentials, undergo regular training on the latest lock and security technology, and arrive with identification. You can trust that the person working on your home, business or vehicle is a vetted professional, not a casual operator.

Which areas do you cover?+

We cover five major hubs and more than thirty surrounding suburbs across Johannesburg's north and Centurion. This includes Sandton, Fourways, Midrand, Randburg and Centurion, along with suburbs such as Bryanston, Morningside, Rivonia, Lonehill, Dainfern, Carlswald, Ferndale, Eldoraigne and many more. If you are unsure whether we reach your area, give us a call and we will confirm.

Can you unlock cars without damage?+

Yes. Our automotive locksmith technicians use professional, non-destructive entry techniques designed to open vehicles without harming the paintwork, weather seals or locking mechanism. We handle car lockouts, key replacement, transponder programming and ignition issues for all major vehicle brands, getting you back on the road quickly and safely.

Can you replace locks after a break-in?+

Absolutely. After a break-in or attempted forced entry, we prioritise your safety and can replace compromised locks on the same visit. Our vans carry a range of high-quality cylinders, deadbolts and anti-snap locks, so we can restore your security immediately rather than leaving you exposed overnight while you wait for parts.

Do you work with businesses and offices?+

Yes. Our commercial locksmith division serves offices, retail stores, warehouses and other business premises. We install and service master key systems, restricted key profiles, panic bars and electronic access control, and we offer scheduled after-hours work so your business is not disrupted during trading hours.

Do you provide lock change services?+

We do. Whether you have moved into a new home, lost a set of keys, or simply want to upgrade your security, our lock change service covers everything from a single cylinder swap to a full property refit. We can also rekey existing locks and supply keyed-alike sets so one key works across multiple doors.

Can you help if I lost my keys?+

Yes. If you have lost your keys, we can gain entry using non-destructive methods, then either rekey the existing lock or replace it so the lost keys can no longer be used. For vehicles, we program replacement keys and remotes on site for most makes and models, so a lost key never means a long wait.

What payment methods do you accept?+

We accept a range of convenient payment methods including card payments, EFT and instant bank transfers, as well as cash. You always receive a clear, upfront quote before any work begins, so there are no hidden fees or surprises when it is time to settle.
